Biography

Dr. Wasim Ahmed is a highly accomplished Consultant in Nephrology and Internal Medicine, with over 27 years of global clinical experience in renal care, dialysis management, and patient safety. Since 2018, he has been serving as a Senior Consultant at SEHA Dialysis Services – Al Mafraq Hospital, contributing to advanced nephrology services and medical excellence in the UAE. Dr. Ahmed holds multiple prestigious qualifications, including FRCP (Edinburgh) in General Medicine (2006), Certificate of Specialist Training (CCST) in Nephrology (2003) from the Royal College of Physicians UK, and a Master of Medical Sciences (MMedSci) from Keele University, UK (2003). He also completed his M.B.B.S. from King Edward Medical University (1993) and has specialized training in medical quality and patient safety, earning CPHQ (2021) from the National Association for Healthcare Quality and CMQ (2020) from the American Board of Medical Quality. His extensive international experience spans multiple countries, having served as a Senior Consultant at King Abdulaziz Medical City, Saudi Arabia (2008-2018), Shifa International Hospital, Pakistan (2006-2008), and North East Wales NHS Trust, UK (2003-2006). He has also held key leadership roles, including Director of King Abdulaziz Medical City, Al Ahsa (2013-2015) and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Shifa School of Medicine, Islamabad (2006-2008). Dr. Ahmed is actively involved in medical education and research, serving as an Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor at Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi (2022-2024). His commitment to quality improvement, patient safety, and evidence-based nephrology care has made a significant impact in enhancing dialysis services and optimizing treatment outcomes.
