SKC has a large grant from ADQ to set up a Mineralomics Lab which is now being built in SKC. The Mineralomics Lab with look at Calciprotein Particles in Ageing and Disease Prevention.

Other collaborative research includes grants with Khalifa University and The Government of Taiwan.

SKC is about to start an exciting project with DoH to examine the effects of Gum Arabic on residual renal function.

SKC is also working on a number of other grant applications with partners in a number of pharmaceutical companies for investigator lead studies and contract research.

SKC prioritises transplantation and SEHA has performed the largest number of kidney transplants in the UAE having Quadrupled the rate of transplantation. Now with around half of these coming from deceased donors. There is no reason for any patient in the UAE to persue tranplantation abroad.

SKC and AHS have teamed up to provide cutting edeg early CKD care with AHS who have developed a chroinci disease management team to manage early stage Chronic kidney disease.

In a recent collaboration we have shown an improvement inb CKD care over time SKC have develop a flowchart for early CKD management

Patients who have developed CKD in the organe or red boxes are advised to see a nephrologist at SKC centres or one of our SKC physicians at a hopsital. Although SKC provide ~85% of the dialysis care in the Emirate no. other provider can match the range of CKD, Transplant, PD and HDF services.
